LPAC-TV Exposes U.S. Government Lies
on Rise of Great Quakes

April 7, 2011 (EIRNS)—"The Shocking Rise in Great Quakes" is the title of a concise, strikingly illustrated Lyndon LaRouche PAC TV special posted today, which documents the lies of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) about the increased frequency of major earthquakes in the current period. The lie can be found on the USGS website under the section on "myths." There USGS argues that the number of quakes of level 7 or more went from 147 in the 1990s, to 131 in the 2000s, thus purporting to show a trend downward.

Reporter Natalie Lovegren exposes the lie. The USGS figures are "real," statistically, if you include all earthquakes over the degree of 7 on the Richter scale. But, if you concentrate on what are called "great" quakes, of a level 8 or higher, there has actually been a dramatic increase between the 90s and the 2000s—from 6 to 13. Even more dramatic is the instance of level 9 quakes, which have occurred twice in the 2000s, but last occurred before that in 1964.

Lovegren's report also chronicles the increase in volcanic activity in the last decade.

It's criminal negligence not to invest in the ability to forecast earthquakes, or mitigate their effects, Lovegren argues. But to outright lie about the increasing occurrence, which points to the urgent need to find out why, amounts to a "willful genocidal fraud." But if Obama is not removed, that's what the U.S. will get.
