PRESS RELEASE

Expulsion of Berlin CIA Station Chief: A Weapon for U.S. Opposition to the War Party

July 13, 2014 (EIRNS)—Behind the German expulsion of the CIA station chief in the Berlin U.S. Embassy is massive tension produced by Germany‚Äôs refusal to use the Ukraine crisis as a trigger for strategic confrontation with Russia. Following the British script, U.S. intelligence assets, having both influence in, and double agents inside the German secret services, have been deployed to attack what are publicly called "Putin Versteher", those who "understand" the Russian standpoint, and therefore seek to keep the door open to Moscow.

One source, whose consulting affairs between Germany and Russia had been decimated several years ago after being publicly attacked for having ties with former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder on the North Stream Gazprom pipeline, and also with Lyndon LaRouche, testified to how dirty such intelligence warfare could be.

Another source who is active in NATO venues confirmed that threats accompanied the June visit to Berlin of U.S. Undersecretary of Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence David Cohen, who was there to push for heavy sanctions against Russia, targeting German industry's ties. In late April the German Federal Office for Protection of the Constitution (Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz, BfV) was obviously pressured to hype alarm that one-third of the personnel in the Russian Embassy were thought to be agents of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service. German nationals who engaged in discussions with such agents would be "incredibly naive," a blatant threat to put Germany's own citizens under counterintelligence investigations for merely having contact with the Russian Embassy. Anti-Russian Ukrainian exiles in Germany have publicly attacked Helga Zepp-LaRouche and her political party, Civil Rights Solidarity Movement (BüSo), as agents of Putin's propaganda apparatus.

The Daily Beast blog in the U.S., created by Tony Blair groupie Tina Brown (Lady Evans, CBE) has a long July 12 article on the Berlin CIA affair full of anonymous sources confirming that the U.S. had to operate behind the back of the German secret services, and why—because of Russian infiltration of Germany, since after all, Putin had been the KGB head in Dresden until 1990.

The German expulsion of the CIA station chief is but the tip of the iceberg of German war-avoidance policy concerning Russia. German military sources have stately bluntly, that Germany and France will not permit NATO expansion eastwards at the September NATO summit in Wales. There will be the usual press releases, "the door to membership is open," etc., but, "no expansion." The long-standing interweaving of U.S. and German secret service and military intelligence operations over decades is now a two-way street, where the German effort to avoid a strategic disaster is playing back into the U.S. opposition against the Anglo-Obama war policy. The issue will soon no longer be how many CIA double agents are in Berlin, but who in Washington are the agents of British imperial war policy who must be expelled.
