PRESS RELEASE

Another Resolution Against War Signed by 60 Prominent Germans

Dec. 5, 2104 (EIRNS)—Just as the resolution written by Helga Zepp-LaRouche against the war drive and for an alliance with the BRICS is being circulated in Germany by the LaRouche movement, another resolution has been published in the weekly Die Zeit. Under the headline "War in Europe Again? Not in Our Name!" it also warns against the war danger, charges the United States, Europe, and Russia with having lost the commitment to war avoidance, and calls on the government and parliament of Germany to stop being sleepwalkers and to publicly declare that Russia has as much of a right to feel secure as do Germans, Poles, and others in Europe. Russia has been part of Europe since the Congress of Vienna, and every attempt to change that has ended with a bloody nose for those who attempted that—Nazi Germany being the last of these. The endorsement in certain Western circles for NATO membership for Georgia and Ukraine, the statement says, has justifiably raised fears in Russia.

The resolution is signed by 60 prominent figures in politics, science, and culture, including former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder; former German President Roman Herzog; former Chancellery Minister Horst Teltshik; former Undersecretary of State of the Defense Ministry Walther Stützle; present Chairman of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations (Ost-Ausschuss) Eckhard Cordes; as well as leading dissidents among the media such as Gabriele Krone-Schmalz and former chairwoman of the Evangelical Churches association Margot Kässmann.
