LAROUCHE PAC INTERVIEW WITH REP. WALTER JONES:

'Tell Congress To Restore Glass-Steagall'

Oct. 6, 2011 (EIRNS)—Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.), in an interview today with LaRouche PAC-TV's Ardena Jones (no relation), repeatedly called on viewers to "pick up the phone, call their Member of Congress—House and Senate," and tell them to restore the Glass-Steagall standard and to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan.

Representative Jones, the veteran of many bipartisan initiatives in Congress, is a co-sponsor of the bill introduced by Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio), H.R. 1489, which calls for reviving the separation of commercial and investment banking, as provided in the 1933 Glass-Steagall Law.

The Congressman is also a co-sponsor, with Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.), of a bipartisan bill to require an exit strategy from Afghanistan. Jones told LaRouche PAC-TV that history shows that "no country, no individual, has ever changed Afghanistan, and we're not going to." The American people and the military are tired of this ten-year war, he said, and "it's time to bring 'em home."
