Why the Inter-Alpha Group Fears
Re-Adoption of Glass-Steagall

Sept. 13, 2010 (EIRNS)—In a 15-minute video, released yesterday, LaRouche PAC-TV presents the answer to the question which has often been raised: why is the Wall Street Establishment (and its British imperial backers) so opposed to the re imposition of FDR's Glass-Steagall policy of separating commercial and investment banking? The answer is, that Glass-Steagall today would wipe out the British imperial "assault team" called the Inter-Alpha Group of banks, and thus destroy the major tool with the British use to control the world financial system.

In "Glass-Steagall: The Enemy of Inter-Alpha," LPAC-TV identifies the nature of the Inter-Alpha Group through documenting its member banks' support for Adolf Hitler. While FDR's Glass-Steagall crippled these bankers' ability to support fascism, as soon as FDR died, they began to move to return to weaken Glass-Steagall, until—with the help of Alan Greenspan and Barney Frank—they were able to do so in 1999.

Particularly striking in the documentary is the report given in a question at LaRouche's May 8 webcast, in which the questioner reports a conversation at the London School of Economics. In that conversation, a British economist declared that Great Britain's view was that "any move to re-adopt [Glass-Steagall] would be viewed as a hostile act," and that the British government would soon contact the State Department to communicate this view.

In light of Lyndon LaRouche's call for a renewed drive for Congress to ram through Glass-Steagall in the short time Congress is in Washington, D.C. this September, this video promises to be crucial ammunition in that fight.
