Congressional Website Lists
Two New Co-Sponsors for H.R. 1489

May 24, 2011 (EIRNS)—The Congressional website (http://thomas.loc.gov/home/bills_res.html) lists Democrats Edolphus Towns and Louise Slaughter of New York as the new co-sponsors of the bill to restore the 1933 Glass-Steagall banking reform act. Both sponsors are senior congressmen; Towns was the chairman of House Oversight, and Slaughter was chairman of House Rules, one of the most senior positions, and is now ranking member. The complete list from Thomas appears below. Quite a few others members of Congress have told EIR that they signed on; their names will only appear after an unpredictable delay.

Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) is the sponsor of the bill to restore the Glass-Steagall act which was originally created by the Franklin Roosevelt Administration in 1933.
