Prominent Americans Lend Support to Petition Calling for Dumping Geopolitics, Joining BRICS

Jan. 10, 2015 (EIRNS)—The number of prominent individuals signing the Schiller Institute’s petition calling for the "U.S. and Europe to Reject Geopolitics and Collaborate with the BRICS," is growing—even as NATO leaders escalate their confrontation with Russia, especially over Ukraine.

As of this writing, four former U.S. Congressmen and one former U.S. Senator have signed the petition. These are former Reps. Rodney Alexander (R-La), Donna Christensen (D-U.S. Virgin Islands), Cornelius Gallagher (D-NJ), and Vance McAllister (R-La.), and former U.S. Senator Mike Gravel (D-Alaska).

Also of note is a number of leading American performance artists who have signed on, including, most recently, Ed Asner and Roseanne Barr.

From Russia, five members of the Academy of Sciences have signed, the most recent being Roman Krivonos of the Space Research Institute.

Another recent signer is Yim Sungbgin, former Secretary to the President of the Republican of Korea for Climate and Environment.
