O’Malley in the Media: ‘Wall Street’s Public Enemy No. 1’

June 5, 2015 (EIRNS)—The new O’Malley campaign TV ad beaming into Iowa right now, ends with the words (shown on the screen): "Wall Street’s Public Enemy No. 1;" and opens with the phrase,

"Our Economy Isn’t Money...It’s People." In between, are clips of comments O’Malley made last weekend, at his formal announcement, which are also being relayed in media coverage: namely, that Goldman Sachs would be happy with either Jeb or Hillary, but "the presidency of the United States is not a crown to be passed back and forth...between two royal families..."

These same jabs are featured widely now in other media. Time magazine this week (cover date June 15), reports in an article headlined, "Democrats Get a Primary," that thanks to O’Malley and Sen. Bernie Sanders, there is a real Democratic race. Joe Klein, Time’s political columnist, reports in the article posted yesterday, that,

"Both Sanders and O’Malley would take specific action against the Wall Street giants. They would break up the too-big-to-fail-banks; they would reinstate the Glass-Steagall rules that used to separate legitimate banking from casino gambling..."

An intended attack article in the New York Daily News June 4, turned out to be a flop. Headlined, "Martin O’Malley Going After ’Bullies of Wall Steet’ in Campaign, But He Has Ties to Big Banks Too," the article has no substance.
