Former German Chancellor Schröder Tags NATO Exercises on Russia’s Border a ‘Very Serious Mistake’

June 13, 2016 (EIRNS)—Speaking at the German trade mission in Salzburg, Austria, former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder warned that the ongoing exercises of NATO combat troops close to Russia’s western border are a very serious mistake, particularly given the upcoming anniversary of the Nazi assault on the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941.

He also called the anti-Russia sanctions wrong, saying that if European government heads want to keep the sanctions, they should not be cowards "and [should] publicly explain that to their own populations," instead of handling it as merely a "technical matter" of extending the sanctions.
