China Invites Russia’s President Putin To Take Part in Second Belt and Road Forum in 2019

Sept. 13, 2018 (EIRNS)—Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted Chinese President Xi Jinping’s invitation to take part in the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) in 2019, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported today.

The first Belt and Road Forum, which took place on May 14-15, 2017 in Beijing, marked a breakthrough in the political status of the China-launched effort, including participation of 29 heads of state and government, and 1,500 delegates. Among the major political leaders who spoke was the Schiller Institute’s Helga Zepp-LaRouche. Putin, in his address to the Eastern Economic Forum plenary, depicted the Belt and Road as “a civilization-wide project for the future of mankind.”
