Rep. Jimmy Duncan Salutes Trump’s Syria Decision

Dec. 26, 2018 (EIRNS)—On Dec. 24, retiring Congressman Jimmy Duncan (R-TN), who has been attacked for endorsing President Trump’s attempt at establishing peaceful collaboration with Russia, used his farewell address to “salute President Trump’s decision to bring our troops home from Syria.” Duncan said, “With a $21 trillion national debt, we simply cannot afford to be the policeman of the world,” and “the American people do not want and especially do not need permanent, forever wars.”

The 30-year veteran of Congress reported that beyond costing trillions of borrowed dollars, the “very unnecessary wars in the Middle East” have caused “the deaths or horrible injuries to thousands of young Americans and many more thousands of innocent women and children,” and “have created more enemies for our country around the world.”

Duncan himself served for 17 years in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve.
