Democrats Can’t Give It Up, Insist on Political Suicide through Impeachment Mobilization

July 28, 2018 (EIRNS)—Although all the fake-news media acknowledge the total disaster of the Mueller hearings, and with more and more people convinced that the Mueller investigation was a sham, the Democrats are digging in for an impeachment process anyway. As of July 26, the number of Democrat Members of Congress now calling for impeachment has reached 100. While House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi continues to say there is not enough evidence as of yet, she was forced to say she was “not stalling,” and that it may still come to that.

At present, the House of Representatives is on a six-week break, during which time the lawmakers may get enough feedback from angry constituents to give it up, but for now they are full-speed in reverse.

Jerry Nadler (D-NY) Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee called a press conference on July 26 saying his panel has already “in effect” been conducting an impeachment inquiry, and announced he had filed an “Application of the Committee on the Judiciary, U.S. House of Representatives, For an Order Authorizing the Release of Certain Grand Jury Materials” in court, demanding the release of Mueller’s grand jury material, based on the fact that “articles of impeachment are under consideration as part of the Committee’s investigation, although no final determination has been made.”

Today Nadler told CNN’s “State of the Union” that his committee was scrounging for evidence to impeach President Donald Trump. When asked his personal views on impeaching the President, in the wake of the discrediting of Robert Mueller’s investigation before his Judiciary committee, Nadler retorted:

“He richly deserves impeachment. He’s done many impeachable offenses. He’s violated the law six ways from Sunday, but that’s not the question. The question is can we develop enough evidence to put before the American people?... The hearing the other day was an inflection point because it showed quite clearly that it found that the report did not exonerate the President ... that the Russian government tried to influence our campaign, they interfered in our election, they attacked our election. The Trump campaign accepted that assistance, and cooperated with the Russian government in trying to affect the campaign. And then the president lied repeatedly to the American people and to investigators and conducted a corrupt cover-up with at least five criminally indictable acts of obstruction of justice.”
