Former House Intelligence Chair Nunes Explains Comey May Still Be Charged

Sept. 3, 2019 (EIRNS)—Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), now Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee, declared that former FBI Director James Comey may still be charged, in a Breitbart News interview Sunday Sept. 1.

Although Justice Department did not indict Comey last week based on DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s harsh report, Nunes said Sunday that if former Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham, who has charge of investigating the origins of the DOJ’s Russiagate investigation against the President, follows the criminal referral made by House Intelligence Committee Republicans, along the lines of a criminal conspiracy, Comey “could face charges in that lane.” Nunes elaborated that thanks to the Inspector General’s findings, Comey is “eligible for a larger conspiracy charge,” adding “We need real charges brought.” Nunes said the place to watch for such potential charges against Comey or others to originate is U.S. Attorney Durham.

Midday today, President Trump tweeted: “Based on the IG Report, the whole Witch Hunt against me and my administration was a giant and illegal SCAM. The House of Representatives should now get back to work on drug prices, healthcare, infrastructure and all else. The Mueller Report showed No Collusion, No Obstruction!”
