Major German Daily Covers Danish Scientist Bjorn Lomborg Counter to Climate Lies

Sept. 30, 2019 (EIRNS)—Prominently on its second page, Germany’s largest mass-tabloid Bildzeitung publishes statements by Danish scientist Bjorn Lomborg countering Greta Thunberg’s doomsday drive: that mankind does not emit CO2 out of evil intention, but that humanity’s growing use of energy has pulled mankind out of poverty. The enormous supply of energy has improved living and working conditions and increased life expectancy. In the past 25 years alone, 1 billion humans have been relieved from poverty—although Lomborg does not mention China’s effort with 800 million of those.

Furthermore, he states, a century ago weather-related catastrophes killed 500,000 people annually, whereas today, drought, floods, and hurricanes kill 20,000 globally. If there is any green energy to come, it needs time be established, says Lomborg. To exit fossil energy sources by 2028 at the latest, or earlier as Thunberg wants, would trigger a global catastrophe and throw many people back into poverty.

Interestingly, Lomborg notes that the United Nations polled 10 million people globally on their list of priorities: Health, education, jobs, and food ranked first; climate was mentioned last in the list of 16 priorities, showing that they consider issues other than climate to be more urgent.
