Roger Stone Is Denied a New Trial

April 18, 2020 (EIRNS)—The discovery that the jury foreman in the trial of Roger Stone was a rabid anti-Trump Democrat, who was texting attacks on Trump throughout the trial, led to an appeal for a retrial. But Judge Amy Berman Jackson, who clearly shares the jury foreman’s hatred of Trump, on April 16 turned down the appeal, and ordered Stone to turn himself in within two weeks for his 40-month sentence. Stone, a long-time close friend of Trump, and a public supporter of Lyndon LaRouche, was one of the primary targets of Robert Mueller’s team in the effort to bring down the President of the United States on behalf of British intelligence and their assets in the Obama intelligence team.

Judge Jackson wrote in her decision that “the conviction is final,” saying that Stone’s lawyers

“failed to [supply] any reason to believe that there has been a serious miscarriage of justice.... The defendant has not shown that the juror lied; nor has he shown that the supposedly disqualifying evidence could not have been found through the exercise of due diligence at the time the jury was selected,”

Jackson said.

Essentially admitting that the juror lied, Jackson wrote: “To the extent one could consider any of [the juror’s] social media posts to be inconsistent with the juror’s questionnaire, they do not warrant a new trial because they do not meet the legal test for something that has been ‘newly discovered.’ ”
