Biegun in Russia, Lithuania, and Ukraine Will Meet Lavrov and Tsikhanouskaya

Aug. 24, 2020 (EIRNS)—Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun will visit Russia, Lithuania, and Ukraine Aug. 24-27, the U.S. State Department’s press service said on Aug. 23 “to meet with senior government leaders to discuss a range of regional and international issues.” He will then travel to Vienna, Austria, on Aug. 27 to meet with counterparts at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to discuss issues related to regional security and human rights.

In Russia he is expected to meet with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Reuters reports that Biegun will also meet with former Belarusian presidential candidate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on Aug. 24 in Lithuania, to which she fled right after the election.
