Rand Paul Urges, If You Hate War as I Hate War, Join Me in Supporting Donald Trump

Aug. 26, 2020 (EIRNS)—Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) gave a rousing speech to the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night, endorsing President Donald Trump’s re-election in great part because he opposes “endless wars.” His speech countered the bellicose rants of establishment moles like Pompeo at the convention.

Paul spoke about Trump’s funding of Paul’s charity eye-surgery missions to Guatemala and Haiti, long before he was ever a candidate. And of President Trump’s ability to get things done—“like passing the first real criminal justice act reversing some of the locking people up imposed under ‘Biden’s crime bill’ ”—a direct hit by Paul on Biden’s personal responsibility for the passage of the draconian 1994 Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act which is still known as the “Biden bill.”

He then unleashed:

“I’m supporting President Trump because he believes as I do that a strong America cannot fight endless wars. We must not continue to leave our blood and treasure in Middle East quagmires. I flew with him to Dover Air Force Base to honor two soldiers whose remains were coming home from Afghanistan. I will never forget that night. I can tell you the President not only felt the pain of these families, but the President is committed to ending this war.

“President Trump is the first President in a generation to seek to end war rather than start one. He intends to end the war in Afghanistan. He is bringing our men and women home....

“Joe Biden has consistently called for more war. He voted for the Iraq War, which President Trump has called ‘the worst geopolitical mistake of our generation.’ I fear Biden will choose war again. He supported the war in Serbia, Syria, Libya....

“If you hate war like I hate war, if you want us to quit sending $50 billion every year to Afghanistan to build their roads and bridges instead of our roads and bridges at home, you need to support President Trump for another term! So to our soldiers and their families—join me in supporting President Trump.”
