Schiff Launches Another Round of ‘Trump Protects the Russians’

Sept. 11, 2020 (EIRNS)—Congressman Adam Schiff is subpoenaing Brian Murphy, a former acting undersecretary of the Department of Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis, to testify on Sept. 21, as the latest “whistleblower.”

Murphy accuses the Trump Administration of having not properly inflamed relations with Russia. He claims that intelligence was modified or suppressed to back up Trump’s public remarks. His official complaint says that he’s “made several protected disclosures between March 2018 and August 2020” about the suppression of the work “of an intelligence program related to Russian efforts to influence and undermine United States interests.”

Specifically, Murphy is a source for the claim that the acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf recently pushed to include not just Russia, but also China and Iran, in the warning about other nations trying to distort the U.S. election process. The claim is that this action watered down the uniquely dastardly threat posed by Russia. Bonnie Coleman (D-NJ) argued for Wolf to resign, tweeting: “He is a corrupt sycophant who’s [sic] willingness to cater to Trump’s fragile ego puts our democracy at risk.”

Considering the already immense threat to the U.S. posed by those ne’er-do-well Russians, it sure is a good thing that there are never groundless, politically motivated investigations of candidates and office-holders that would disrupt the pristine integrity of the American democratic process.
