Trump Tells Congress, Pass a Stimulus Bill, Now

Oct. 3, 2020 (EIRNS)—Not only is President Donald Trump still functioning as President from his hospital room at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, but he is also taking full advantage of the misfortune of having become a victim of the novel coronavirus. Using his favorite means of communicating with the American people without the interference of the fake-news press, the President posted a tweet, directed to the Congress but going through the citizenry: “OUR GREAT USA WANTS & NEEDS STIMULUS. WORK TOGETHER AND GET IT DONE. Thank you!”

Earlier, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi engaged in the disgusting stunt of rejecting the $1.6 trillion stimulus agreed to by President Trump (and also a bipartisan group of Members of Congress), and directing the House Democrats to pass a $2.2 trillion bill, knowing it would not pass the Senate—a pure campaign ploy while flipping the finger to the American people—and then sending House members home to campaign for the election.

But the American people are virtually one (for a change) in shock that the President, love him or hate him, has COVID-19. Trump, with this tweet, both exposes the treachery of the Democratic Party leadership, and demonstrates real leadership himself. What will it be, Nancy?

Following Trump’s announcement of the positive test at 1 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, Pelosi has already recontacted Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and continued negotiations, writing to her caucus that “we continue to work on the text to move quickly to facilitate an agreement.” If they reach a deal, the House can be recalled to get the stimulus in place before the election.
