Biden on Russia-U.S. Strategic Stability Talks

July 31, 2021 (EIRNS)—Speaking to reporters at the White House before boarding Marine One late yesterday afternoon, President Joe Biden said he is hopeful following the first round of Russian-American strategic stability talks that took place earlier this week in Geneva. Asked by a TASS correspondent to clarify whether he is satisfied with the way the first round went, Biden said, “We are in the process and I am hopeful,” while raising his right thumb. He refrained from further comments on the topic.

The Moscow delegation at the meeting in Geneva was headed by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, while U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman led the Washington delegation. The meeting is the first bilateral consultation on strategic stability in 2021.
