Zelenskyy Warns Biden, Talk That ‘War Is Imminent’ Is Destroying Ukraine
Jan. 28, 2022 (EIRNS)—Following a week of multiple Ukrainian officials publicly challenging the chickenhawks of London and Washington, explaining that in fact their own intelligence shows no imminent Russian invasion, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy directly confronted President Joe Biden on the matter in the afternoon of Jan. 27. He described this morning, as reported by Reuters/KYIV, that he had told Biden: “[W]e don’t need this panic.... There is a feeling abroad that there is war here. That’s not the case.” But sowing panic itself, he said, is weighing on Ukraine’s economy and presents a danger.
Zelenskyy went on to say—though it is not clear if he was still recounting his conversation with Biden—that Ukraine needs $4-5 billion to stabilize its economy. And with a dose of reality, he made the case that the current main risk to Ukraine is the destabilization from within, centered around an economic crisis.
Further, Zelenskyy actually accused Britain of allowing money laundering by oligarchs, Russian and otherwise, siphoning money from countries such as Ukraine and Kazakhstan!
The infamous case of the Kazakhstan oligarch Mukhtar Ablyazov, absconding with billions and receiving “political refugee” status from Britain, is the unmistakable reference; and the coupling of that case, involving the attempted destabilization of Kazakhstan this month, with Ukraine’s situation is most provocative. Any more such behavior from the Western ally Zelenskyy, and the media will “discover” that he’s a Russian puppet.
