Russia and Ukraine Schedule Next Talks, Erdogan Announces They Will Take Place in Turkey

March 27, 2022 (EIRNS)—The next round of in-person talks between Russia and Ukraine has been scheduled for March 29-30, said Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, who leads the Russian delegation to the talks. “Another round of talks with Ukraine in the videoconference format was held today. As a result, a decision was made to meet offline on March 29-30,” he announced on Telegram, reported TASS.

In a separate wire, TASS reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by phone yesterday, and agreed to hold the next round of Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul. The Turkish President’s office declared after the two leaders’ spoke by phone: “During the call, the Presidents discussed the latest developments in the Russian-Ukrainian war and the negotiating process. President Erdogan and President Putin agreed to organize the next meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul.”

The statement from Ankara further declared: “President Erdogan stressed the necessity of reaching truce and peace between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible, and of improving the humanitarian situation in the region. He added that Turkey will continue to make its contribution to this process.”
