Bundestag Approves Germany To Supply Heavy Weapons to Ukraine

April 28, 2022 (EIRNS)—The German Bundestag approved allowing Germany to supply heavy weapons to the Kyiv regime today in a cross-party resolution backed by the Social Democrats (SPD), Christian Democrats (CDU-CSU), Greens, and Free Democrats (FDP). The opposition Alternative for Germany (AfD) and Linke rejected the resolution, with the more fundamental criticism coming from the AfD. “Today, the Bundestag is passing a motion that will prolong the war in Ukraine and could make us a belligerent in a nuclear-led war,” said Tino Chrupalla, AfD party and parliamentary group leader. The motion reads like a “declaration of accession to a war,” he said, insisting that it is in Germany’s interest to maintain good relations with both Ukraine and Russia in the future.
