Argentina Requests To Join the BRICS

June 25, 2022 (EIRNS)—Argentina’s President Alberto Fernández requested BRICS membership for his country during his participation in yesterday’s BRICS+ gathering of the five BRICS nations and 13 invited heads of state and government from around the world. “We aspire to be a full member of this group of nations that already represents 42% of the world’s population and 24% of the global gross product,” Fernández said. He emphasized Argentina’s role as a major food producer, as well as its capabilities in biotechnology and logistics.
