Putin Trip to Iran Shows Potential for New Paradigm; End Sanctions Immediately To Allow the World To Flourish

July 19, 2022 (EIRNS)—Russian President Vladimir Putin’s trip to Iran, where he met with leaders from that nation and the President of Turkey, represents a step toward consolidating a new paradigm from the world—side-stepping sanctions and the use of the U.S./U.K. dollar—to achieve physical economic advancement outside the intended unipolar empire of London and Wall Street.

In this visit, Putin’s fourth to Iran in seven years, he met with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who pointed to NATO’s intent of war with Russia. He also met with President Ebrahim Raisi, with whom Putin discussed many issues, including Syria.

The Central Bank of Iran announced a new mechanism for direct rial-ruble trade between the two nations. The bank’s governor asserted: “Local currencies and bilateral and multilateral monetary agreements will be a suitable means to neutralize the political tools of domination that are global currencies.”

Russia’s Gazprom has signed an MOU with the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) for joint projects for oil and gas exploration and development. The investment is expected to reach a level of $40 billion (or better said, 2.26 trillion rubles/1.7 quadrillion rials). NIOC “has already dealt with contracts with Russian companies despite sanctions,” it reports. “There is no concern about the role of sanctions in the failure of these understandings and contracts.”

Is peaceful multipolarity the wave of the future? Not when the Anglo-American NATO empire is intent on crushing opposition to its rule! Several provocations against China vis-à-vis Taiwan are underway. Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper told Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen that the One-China Policy has “outlived its usefulness” and that the U.S. should end its policy of “strategic ambiguity.” A European Parliament Vice President is in Taiwan to claim that while Europe ignored Hong Kong, it won’t let down Taiwan. U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi has scheduled a trip to the island next month. And the attacks on Russia continue to grow. Asked about the potential for Ukraine to use HIMARS missile systems provided by the U.S. to strike at Crimea, a State Department official responded that “Crimea is Ukraine,” a standpoint that cannot meaningfully be held by any sane thinker today.

Tony Blair, architect of the mass-murderous 2003 Iraq War and of the evil “responsibility to protect” doctrine that puts a “rules-based order” over international law and the Westphalian sovereignty of nations, confronted by the growing strategic independence of Russia and the meteoric economic rise of China, plots new ways to bring those nations to heel.

It is the responsibility of the people of NATO nations to prevent nuclear war from erupting, whether by intent or by accidents that can occur in this dangerous environment. And that can only take place by addressing the causes that have led to the present, perilous strategic landscape.

Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche has issued a call to immediately lift sanctions against Russia—and other targeted nations. “There is an obvious way the Gordian knot can be untied with one swipe,” she writes.

“The sanctions against Russia, but also all the other countries against which they have been imposed for years for geopolitical reasons—Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen—must be ended immediately! Sanctions, under the conditions of world hunger, pandemic, and hyperinflation, mean genocide for developing countries, and suicide for our industry and agriculture!”

Doubling world food production, achieving a renaissance of solid infrastructure investment, and addressing the bankruptcy of the trans-Atlantic economic systems by ending the reign of Wall Street and the City of London—these are meaningful goals to be adopted by such nations as the United States, which is presently being torn apart, destroyed by a disunifying and dishonest cultural revolution that is actively hostile to adopting a meaningful economic-scientific mission.
