Biden Apparently Pushing Against ‘Taiwan Policy Act’

Aug. 7, 2022 (EIRNS)—Several reports indicate that the Democratic Party in Congress is ignoring President Joe Biden in its war provocations. Following Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s spectacular disregard of Biden’s opposition to her visit to Taiwan, Bloomberg News on Aug. 4, in “White House Lobbies Democrats Against Bid To Deepen Taiwan Ties,” reported the administration is lobbying Senate Democrats to “put the brakes” on the Taiwan Policy Act, the extreme legislative repudiation of the One China policy which Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Lindsey Graham (R-NC) are pushing. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee did not call the bill up this past week as intended; Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said it would not be brought up until September, and would be revised. The Dispatch (a conservative news agency) reported Murphy would introduce a number of changes in coordination with the White House. The Bloomberg coverage, based on the usual “people familiar with the issue,” reported that Biden does not want “strategic ambiguity” on defending Taiwan discarded, and the Taiwan Relations Act is “counterproductive.”

On Aug. 7, Senators of both parties, Lindsey Graham (R-NC) and Democrats Richard Blumenthal (CT) and Chris van Hollen (MD), along with various Representatives such as Greg Meeks (D-NY), were all over the talk shows demanding the Taiwan Policy Act, demanding escalation against Russia “because China is watching,” and uttering pagan war-cries.
