Russian Officials Respond Forcefully to Proposed ‘Kiev Security Compact’

Sept. 14, 2022 (EIRNS)—Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded on Sept. 14 to the release of the Kiev Security Compact: “This compact, these so-called working groups would get EU countries caught in such a knot, tying their hands so that they would end up hellishly enslaved and subsequently never restore their economic growth and development, nor even their former glory for that matter as well.”

Dmitry Medvedev, Russian Security Council deputy chair and former Russian President, (in Russian) responded in a Telegram post that “the Kiev camarilla has given birth to a project of ‘security guarantees,’ which are essentially a prologue to a third world war. Of course, no one will provide any ‘guarantees’ to the Ukrainian Nazis,” he wrote. He said the proposal is tantamount to “applying Article 5 of the North Atlantic Pact to Ukraine.... It directly concerns NATO’s hybrid war with Russia. If these half-wits go ahead with the rampant pumping of the most dangerous types of weapons to the Kiev regime, then sooner or later the military campaign will achieve another level,” he warned. “The campaign will follow its own military scenario, involving ever more new participants. It has always been this way,” Medvedev said. (Emphasis in original.)
