EIR LEAD EDITORIAL FOR FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 23, 2022

Will We Survive the Birth Pangs of a New Paradigm?

Sept. 22, 2022 (EIRNS)—Are you sure the sun will rise for you tomorrow? Will you still be alive next week? Don’t count on it unless you act on it.

The white-hot danger of nuclear war is staring us in the face. It has been coming since the 2014 beginning of the proxy war against Russia conducted on the territory of Ukraine. It has come closer with the series of escalations made by NATO in the face of the unavoidable Russian response to threats to its security. Now that Russian President Putin has come out and said it, has said that nuclear weapons are at Russia’s disposal if its existence is threatened, even some of those who have swallowed the propaganda up to now are seeing more clearly the awful potential of the end of civilization as we know it.

Referenda are scheduled to begin on Sept. 23 in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine. If these regions vote to join Russia, and Russia accepts, will Ukrainian military activity there be met as would an attack on Russia itself today? Will you, personally survive, the endgame in that scenario?

As the NATO nations piously and hypocritically gripe about Russia at the UN General Assembly, as they denigrate the Belt and Road Initiative of China, as they demand fealty to the Malthusian God of Climate Change and an end to reliable and economical power, much of the rest of the world has simply had enough.

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has called for dialogue, for negotiation, for open channels of diplomacy and economic exchange, as the way to achieve peace. Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto called for “multilateralism as the only sustainable path to a peaceful, stable, and prosperous world for all.... It is time to work on the trust deficit with stronger conviction that none of us is really safe until all of us are safe.”

Nations watch the United States and the countries of Europe throw away generations of development and advancement as they destroy their economies and living standards in the name of defeating Putin, as they risk global nuclear war rather than tolerate a challenge to unipolarity that they don’t even control and certainly don’t benefit from.

May the magnitude of the terrifying danger we face provide an opening to bring into being the better world, the economic advance, social progress, and scientific advancement championed by the LaRouche movement.

If you aren’t scared of the present threat of nuclear extinction, you are not in reality. And if you’re not acting to prevent it, soon we may all not exist.
