The Opportunity Is as Great as the Danger: Speak Out Now!

Oct. 2, 2022 (EIRNS)—Today, President Vladimir Putin continued the protocol for the accession to Russia of the four areas—Lugansk, Donets, Zaporozhye and Kherson, which voted in favor of accession last week. Putin provided to the Duma their requests, which he signed Sept. 30. The Duma is expected to review the documents Oct. 3; the Federation Council will review them Oct. 4. The Russian Constitutional Court approved the accession documents earlier today. Putin has appointed as his Presidential representatives for the process of accession, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov.

Opposing this, on the level of formality, the U.S. intends to file a resolution in the UN General Assembly, condemning Russia for the referenda. Shortly, the U.S. will request an emergency UNGA session for this purpose, according to the U.S. Ambassador to the UN Linda Greenfield-Thomas on Sept. 30. She announced this after the Friday, Sept. 30 UN Security Council session that day, in which a similar U.S. resolution, co-sponsored by U.S. sidekick Albania, failed, not only because Russia vetoed it, but also notably, in a vote in which three BRICS member nations abstained from voting—China, India and Brazil. (The fifth BRICS nation, South Africa, is not at this time one of the ten rotating UNSC members.)

On the level of insanity and depravity, the Western mass brainwashing and leadership brinkmanship have reached new extremes. They were on full display on today’s U.S. Sunday news talk shows, in which a parade of figures, including NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and Ukraine Ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markova, among others, put forward lies and ultimata guaranteed to provoke World War III, if not derailed.

They all repeated their stock-phrase accusations against Russia, such as that Russia is guilty of a “war of aggression,” and Putin is an imperialist madman committed to expanding territory, and similar familiar information-war points.

Particularly odious among the mass brainwashing points is that supporting Ukraine is the test for support for democracy and Western values. The venality of the lie that Ukraine is a paragon of democracy was addressed by Ukrainian leader Natalia Vitrenko, Chairwoman of the Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine (PSPU), in a powerful, detailed statement Sept. 30, after Kiev’s ban on her party was upheld on Sept. 27 by the appeals court of Ukraine’s Supreme Court. The Kiev regime has banned 16 opposition parties altogether. The Sept. 27 court decision against the PSPU was

“not only ... a politically motivated punishment of our party, but it tramples on all the foundations of European democracy,” Vitrenko wrote. The former Deputy in the Ukraine Parliament and candidate for President conveys encouragement, even under severe attack, saying: “Their ban on the Party is not the period at the end of a sentence, but a comma. History acquits us. The true guilty parties in the tragedy of the war will be named. Truth and justice will prevail.”

On the Nord Stream pipeline explosions, Stoltenberg, speaking to NBC from Brussels, tap danced around the sabotage, by saying it needs to be investigated, and that NATO is “unified” in promising a stern response once the culprit is confirmed. His kind of coyness prompts one to ask, “Is the thief shouting, ‘stop, thief’?” according to the analogy from Swiss intelligence and military expert Lt. Col. Ralph Bosshard (ret.).

Otherwise, the chorus of U.S., U.K., and NATO voices continue their showdown statements and actions, leading to a war of annihilation if not stopped. But the opportunity to speak out and be heard is as great as the danger.

Even Henry Kissinger is sounding the alarm. The senior figure, notorious for many anti-humanity actions, nevertheless on Sept. 30 said that there must be dialogue with Russia, Ukraine must not join NATO, and the U.S. should take stock. The U.S. has found itself “At the edge of war with Russia and China on issues which we partly created.” After the fall of the Soviet Union, the whole region was open to restructuring, but, “From the Russian point of view, the United States then attempted to integrate this whole region, without exception, into an American-led strategic system.” He called for dialogue, given the context of “the nuclear environment,” he told the Wall Street Journal in an interview published Aug. 12.

Every voice of sanity and truth counts more than ever. This coming Friday, Oct. 7, the Schiller Institute is holding an online seminar on the topic, “Stop the War Before It Is Too Late; Eliminate the Causes of the War Danger,” which will include an address by Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche, and presentations from the Americas, including present and former legislators from Ibero-America, and Diane Sare, Independent candidate for U.S. Senate from New York, running to unseat Sen. Charles Schumer (D), the longtime backer of the war and economic destruction policies.

The Schiller Institute invitation to the Oct. 7 event states, “The true cause of the danger of a nuclear world war and of the escalation of the Russia/Ukraine conflict lies in the fact that the neoliberal trans-Atlantic financial system is heading towards a systemic hyperinflationary breakdown crisis. The survival of its speculative bubble requires the imposition of a unipolar world, where neither alternatives to their system nor national sovereignty itself are tolerated. The U.S. and NATO must stop their expansion to the east and their provocations which are taking us to a point of no return globally.”
