UN Human Rights Council Voted Down Holding Debate on China’s Practices in Xinjiang

Oct. 7, 2022 (EIRNS)—This week the UN Human Rights Council registered a big upset in going along with the Global NATO narratives on infractions of “democracy,” in their definition. A draft resolution lost a vote, which sought for the HRC to hold a debate on the human rights situation in China’s Xinjiang region. The resolution was rejected by 19 opposed, and 17 in favor. Most notable is that India was among the 11 nations which abstained from voting. Last year, then High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet agreed to Beijing’s offer to visit Xinjiang, spending several days in the state, and producing an in-depth report.
