EIR LEAD EDITORIAL FOR WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 26, 2022

Dirty Bombs, Nuclear War, and the LaRouche Movement’s Role in Creating a New Paradigm

Oct. 25, 2022 (EIRNS)—The specter of nuclear war confronts the conscience of the world’s informed, non-delusional leaders and people; the challenge of preventing that outcome, and of bringing about a new paradigm of economics and international relations to address the root cause driving that potential conflict, lies in your hands.

Russia continues to raise the alarm of the potential use of a dirty bomb in Ukraine as the excuse, the justification for massively increasing military operations against Russia. The terrifying potential of such an operation—in a repeat of the supposed chemical weapon attacks in Syria—is to be raised at the United Nations Security Council.

A shadow of sanity among the Democratic Party in the United States was seen on Oct. 24 in the letter to the President signed by 30 members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. But apparently those cowards were simply dressing up as conscientious leaders a week before Hallowe’en—the costume was discarded the next day as the letter was withdrawn.

If you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself! This is one of those cases.

LaRouche movement activists and friends have engaged in a nonstop series of interventions on elected officials, including Representatives Ocasio-Cortez, Pressley, and Markey, and Senators Warren and Gillibrand. Those activists’ interventions, into events nominally focused on such non-issues as cancelling student debt—there’s always the “nuclear option” of cancelling the students themselves—express the conscience of the future.

On Thursday, Oct. 27, the Schiller Institute will hold an international event, “Stop the Danger of Nuclear War.” The event, hosted physically at the Mexican Congress and on Zoom worldwide, demands the creation of a “new international security architecture that recognizes and respects the legitimate security interests of all the planet’s nations.”

Supporters of Diane Sare, LaRouche candidate for the U.S. Senate from New York, are fighting for her participation in the only major debate of the race, to be held on Oct. 30. Placed on a nominally Ukrainian hitlist through actions supported by her opponent, Chuck Schumer, Sare has brought tens of thousands of New Yorkers into political action through her campaign. But in a sad display of American “democracy” (the principle supposedly exhibited so forcefully in political-party-banning Ukraine), Sare has been denied access to the debate on the Kafkaesque grounds that she did not get high enough numbers in polls that systemically excluded her candidacy as a response.

Called upon to express a vision of the current crisis and the available future, Schiller Institute Founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche and Schiller Institute UN Liaison Richard A. Black addressed a two-day conference based in Moscow sponsored by the National Committee for BRICS Research.

Zepp-LaRouche concluded her remarks: “The presently onrushing systemic collapse of the financial system represents obviously a grave challenge, but it also means a welcomed chance to finally direct the better part of the world economy on principles in accordance with those of our physical universe.”

If events of the past days have taught us anything, it is that it is our job to create such a “welcomed” future. The supposed experts in charge will march the planet directly into nuclear war, with perhaps a short detour through economic devastation, while most of the supposed heroes have no intention of actually acting—or thinking.

You are on the stage of history. What part will you play?
